Dan Jakana
Biography
Dan Jakana was born on July 4, 1955, in Kampala, Uganda, where he attended both elementary and high school. In 1973, he enrolled in the University of Texas at El Paso College of Business, earning a BBA in Marketing in 1976. He later enrolled in Oral Roberts University’s Graduate School of Business in 1977, where he earned an MBA in International Business in 1979.
He worked in corporate America and later operated his own pest control firm in Houston, Texas. Dan’s recent projects have brought him back to his place of birth, where he is currently the founder and CEO of Jakana Foods LLC, a processor of dried fruits, freeze-dried fruits (ideal for airline and space travel), organic fruit juice, and hair extensions made from banana fiber, with markets in North America and the EU.
He is also a property developer for the luxury 78-unit condominium project atop Konge Hill, Jakana Heights, in Kampala, Uganda, overlooking Lake Victoria.
