Hélène de Gobineau
Biography
Hélène de Gobineau (1903-1958) was passionately interested in ethnology. She studied at the Musée de l’Homme in Paris. She is also known for her study of the graphic components of writing and her work on dysgraphy.
Hél joined in the war effort, first as a canteen lady in Paris’ Gare de Lyon, and later as a volunteer assigned to POW colonial camps and hospitals where Black soldiers were kept under German guard. It was this experience that motivated her writing Noblesse d’Afrique
