Harlow Giles Unger
Biography
Harlow Giles Unger is a veteran journalist, broadcaster, educator, and historian. He is the author of 27 books, including the Encyclopedia of American Education and eight other books on American education. These include books on college admissions, public-school education, vocational education, and special needs education. As a historian, he has written more than a dozen biographies of Revolutionary War leaders, including Lafayette and Thomas Paine.
Unger is a graduate of Yale University and was a journalist for more than thirty years, first, with The New York Herald Tribune Overseas News Service, then, as an American political and economic affairs analyst for The Times and The Sunday Times (London). He was also an on-air analyst for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation before embarking on a career as an author.
