Biography

Kayla Hardy, PH.D. is a mythology expert, screenwriter, and multi-hyphenate author of Louisiana Creole descent whose work explores the intersections of Black folklore, mythology, spirituality, and history. She earned her PhD in creative writing and African American literature from SUNY Binghamton University, where she also serves as an adjunct professor.

Dr. Hardy is an accomplished scholar of Black folklore, mythology, and Voodoo traditions, bringing both academic depth and imaginative storytelling to her work. Her writing is known for blending richly researched history with lush speculative elements that center Black cultural memory and ancestral traditions.

The Quarter Queen, inspired by the legendary life of Marie Laveau, is her debut novel.
