Biography of Nelda LaTeef

Nelda LaTeef is an award-winning author and illustrator. Her children’s picture book, Animal Village, received a starred Kirkus review and it was selected one of Kirkus Reviews’ Best Books of 2018. The book was translated into French and Spanish and it was a Children’s Africana Book Awards Honor winner, Next Generation Indie Book Finalist, Storytelling World Honor winner, and awarded a gold medal and a silver medal from Literary Classics. Her latest children’s picture book, The Talking Baobab Tree, published by Sub-Saharan Publishers in 2020, received a starred Kirkus review and top honors from the Online Book Club.

Nelda’s picture book, The Hunter and the Ebony Tree, received the Storytelling World Honor Award and it was translated into Italian, Gaelic, and Korean. She is a cum laude graduate of Harvard University and is the author of Working Women for the 21st Century: Fifty Women Reveal Their Pathways to Success, selected by the New York Public Library as one of the best career books for young adults.
