Phillip Martin JR.

Phillip Martin Jr. (Phil Martin) is a retired Navy veteran, African American novelist, and lifelong storyteller. Born and raised in Philadelphia, he has since lived in Japan, Italy, and various states across the United States, experiences that inform the breadth and perspective of his writing.

An avid golfer, he currently lives with his family in a verdant suburb near Portland, Oregon. His short stories have been featured in Reedsy’s weekly writing competition and have placed in FanStory’s writing contests.

Martin is passionate about sharing the misadventures of his characters, offering readers stories that feel both refreshingly new and familiarly grounded, shaped by imagination, realism, and lived experience.
