Richard Jeanty is a nationally bestselling author and the founder of RJ Publications, a leading independent publishing house focused on Black literature. As an author, Jeanty has built a reputation for bold storytelling that addresses systemic injustice and uplifts Black resilience. He first gained widespread acclaim with his debut novel, Neglected Souls, a gritty and heartfelt tale that became a breakout success in urban fiction. Since then, he has written over a dozen titles across various genres and themes, ranging from street lit and romance to political nonfiction and cultural commentary, establishing himself as a versatile voice in contemporary African American literature. Through RJ Publications, Jeanty has also supported other writers, further cementing his role as a visionary publisher in the Black literary community.
Jeanty’s bibliography features several flagship works that showcase the range and impact of his writing. His focus shifted to social justice with The Most Dangerous Gang in America: The NYPD (2007), a hard-hitting nonfiction exposé on police brutality and the plight of Black men in America.
