Robin D. Stone
Biography
Robin D. Stone, MA, LMHC-D, CPT, is a psychotherapist, poetry therapist, wellness coach, and longtime journalist. In her Manhattan private practice, Stone works primarily with Black women, using literary arts and other therapeutic modalities to address trauma while exploring the systems and cultural influences that shape their lives. She also supervises counselors in training.
Stone is the author of No Secrets, No Lies: How Black Families Can Heal from Sexual Abuse and lead writer of the Essence book The Black Woman’s Guide to Healthy Living. Her writing and editing have appeared in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, Essence, Health, and Entrepreneur. Her blog, The Color of Wellness, appears on PsychologyToday.com, and she contributes to Sisters/AARP online.
A native of Detroit, Stone earned a degree in journalism from Michigan State University, a master’s in Health Arts & Sciences from Goddard College, and a master’s in Counseling for Mental Health & Wellness from New York University. She lives in New York City and northern New Jersey with her husband, and together they have four children.
