Useni Eugene Perkins (1932 to May 7, 2023) is a distinguished and long-time author, poet, playwright, social worker, and civil rights activist who worked extensively during the Chicago Black Arts Movement of the 1960’s and 1970’s.
In addition to the book listed below Mr. Perkins published the following books An Apology to My African Brother (1965), Black is Beautiful (1968) Cry of the Black Ghetto (1970), Silhouette (1970), Home Is a Dirty Street: The Social Oppression of Black Children (1975), Pride of Race (1984), and Midnight Blues in the Afternoon and Other Poems (1984).
Perkins transitioned on May 7, 2023. He was 90 years old.
