Ahmad Wright

Ahmad Wright applied for his first writing workshop with the late, great Doris Jean Austin at the Frederick Douglass Creative Arts Center in New York City. Early in his writing career, he was a former intern at QBR: The Black Book Review and a former assistant book review editor at Library Journal. His book review credits span the years and have appeared in Publishers Weekly, The Washington Post, Black Issues Book Review, QBR, Upscale, the Los Angeles Times, and the African American Literature Book Clubs (AALBC.com). His short fiction has appeared in African Voices magazine; Dark Dreams: A Collection of Horror and Suspense (2004); Connections Literary Magazine, published by the College of Southern Maryland; This Is What America Looks Like, an anthology by the Washington Writers’ Publishing House (2020); and most recently in BE: A Journal of Black Experimental and Interdisciplinary Work, an online publication housed in the CUNY archives, where he also served as a coeditor.

Wright is an ex-New Yorker who lives in Washington, D.C., and currently teaches college-bound students at Georgetown University’s SCS Summer Program; he is an assistant professor of English at the University of the District of Columbia Community College.
