According to her students, Alicia D. Williams is “funny, fantastic, and bodacious” and “she always brings her happy spirit.” She is also oral storyteller in the African American tradition. Alicia is a Master Teaching artist, combining her love for drama and storytelling to teach arts-integration. Williams is a graduate of the MFA program at Hamline University. The New York Time’s reviewed her debut novel Genesis Begins Again as Toni Morrison’s The Bluest Eye for middle schoolers. Her novel is both a Kirkus Prize and William C. Morris Award Finalist. Jump at de Sun, her picture book biography about the life of Zora Neale Hurston, will be released in 2020. Alicia resides is Charlotte, NC and is the proud mother of a collegiate daughter.
