Greg Thomas is a member of the Plano ISD family and has served the past two years with the Student, Family and Community Social Service Department as a truancy specialist through the P.A.R.B. (Plano Attendance Review Board). A program established to re-engage students on the verge of dropping out or not graduating. Greg spent 24 years on the Plano East Sr. High campus as the Substance Abuse/At-Risk counselor, Step Team founder, Bowling Club founder/Sponsor and Varsity Assistant Basketball Coach.

Prior to joining Plano ISD, Greg worked for Collin County (1993-1996) as the Substance Abuse Assistant performing assessments for the Juvenile and Adult Probationers, as well as, for the Plano, Allen, McKinney and surrounding school districts.

From (1990-1993), Greg worked for Daytop Village, a corner stone and world renown Drug and Alcohol program. He left as the Senior Counselor, in charge of the daily activities, individual/group counseling and transportation for the program.

Born in San Angelo, Texas, He attended Central High. Greg was a three-sport athlete and a member of the choral program. He received an athletic scholarship to the University of Arkansas where he was a four-year lettermen and three-year starter at the quarterback position. Greg became the first Black starting quarterback and is the winningest in school history.

Greg obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication in 1988 and is the author of No Doubting Thomas “Hawg Whisperer” My Arkansas Memoirs, chronicling his four years as the Razorbacks quarterback.

Greg and his wife, Rebecca, have a blended family of 7 children and 8 grandchildren and reside in Celina, Texas.
