Biography

Kimberly S. Love was born and raised in the Appalachian foothills of Huntsville, Alabama. She left home to study literature and language at Tuskegee University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She continued her studies at the University of Virginia (UVA), where her career began, teaching composition and literature courses and leading African American Studies sections. She received a PhD in English Language and Literature from UVA.

Austin Creek is her debut novel. Her other publications appear in Hypatia: A Journal of Feminist Philosophy, Root Work Journal, and Auburn Avenue. An essay is forthcoming in The Southern Quarterly.

She spends her free time playing with her nephew, appreciating and listening to nature, trying to grow her own food, and coaching other writers.
