Kirkus
Biography
Kirkus Reviews is a book review magazine, founded in 1933, that specializes in pre-publication reviews of thousands of titles each year for librarians, booksellers, publishers, and serious readers. Known for its concise, sometimes blunt assessments, Kirkus publishes short reviews that summarize a book’s premise and offer a clear verdict on its strengths and weaknesses, often influencing purchasing, collection, and marketing decisions in the book world. Alongside its traditional trade reviews, it runs a paid “Indie” review program for self-published and small-press authors.
