Dr. Marcia Chatelain is an alumna of the University of Missouri-Columbia (B.A.) and Brown University (A.M., Ph.D.) is Associate Professor of History at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Previously, she was the Reach for Excellence Assistant Professor of Honors and African-American Studies at the University of Oklahoma Honors College.

Her areas of interest include African-American history, women’s and girls’ studies and public history. Dr. Chatelain has volunteered with her local Girl Scouts council and the YWCA of Oklahoma City. She sits on the boards of the Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma and RADAR Literary Arts in San Francisco. Dr. Chatelain was a member of the British Council’s Transatlantic Network 2020 and an alumna of the Sue Shear Institute for Women in Public Life.
