Monica Clark-Robinson

Monica Clark-Robinson is passionately in love with stories—the stories that connect people across culture, race, and age. She believes the right story, at the right time, can change a child’s life. She is most interested in bringing forward stories that are being forgotten or misremembered. She writes picture books, contemporary middle-grade fiction, and young adult fiction.

Her debut picture book, Let the Children March, was published by Clarion Books in January 2018, with stunning art by Frank Morrison. Her next book, Standing on Her Shoulders, illustrated by Laura Freeman, was published by Orchard Press, an imprint of Scholastic, in February 2021. Teaching for Change: How Septima Clark Led the Civil Rights Movement to Voting Justice, written with Yvonne Clark-Rhines and illustrated by Abigail Albano-Payton, was published on January 27, 2026.

Monica is also a Unitarian Universalist minister, actor, former children’s librarian, and voice-over artist. She lives in a yurt in the country with her wife, too many cats, and just the right number of daughters.
