Renee Gladman
Renee Gladman is a talented writer and artist who explores the intersections of poetry, prose, drawing, and architecture in her creative work. With thirteen published works to her name, Gladman has gained recognition for her series of novels set in the city-state of Ravicka, featuring its intriguing inhabitants known as the Ravickians. Her notable novels include Event Factory (2010), The Ravickians (2011), Ana Patova Crosses a Bridge (2013), and Houses of Ravicka (2017).
In addition to her written works, Gladman showcases her artistic talent through collections of drawings. Her notable collections include Prose Architectures (2017) and One Long Black Sentence, a series of white ink drawings on black paper that were indexed by Fred Moten in 2020. Gladman’s thought-provoking essays and captivating visual work have been published in esteemed literary and art publications such as The Paris Review, Gulf Coast, Granta, Harper’s, BOMB magazine, e-flux, and n+1.
Gladman’s creative endeavors have been acknowledged with various fellowships, artist grants, and residencies. She has been a recipient of support from prestigious institutions including the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard, the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, the Lannan Foundation, and the KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin.
