Truth Thomas is a singer-songwriter and poet, born in Knoxville, TN, who grew up in Washington, DC. He is the author of four collections of poetry: Speak Water, winner of the 2013 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work - Poetry, Bottle of Life, A Day of Presence, and Party of Black. Thomas’ work has twice been nominated for the Pushcart Prize. His poems have appeared in over 70 publications including: Callaloo, The Newtowner Magazine, New York Quarterly, The Emerson Review, The Ringing Ear: Black Poets Lean South (Cave Canem Anthology) and The 100 Best African American Poems (edited by Nikki Giovanni).
