Notes:

We meet once a month at one of the members house. We are more of a Sisterhood, than just members of a reading group. We take an educational trip once a year to some city that is having an African American event/festival. We visited author Cornelia Bailey's hometown, Sapelo Island, Georgia. The author owns a bed and breakfast house, we stayed there. Cornelia was in town and she read from her book, it was very educational. The island have only 33 black people (total) on the island. Some of the the original families descendants are still their (Bailey), and they are struggling to keep it in the black families without the State of Georgia take their land. We have visited the Civil Right's Museum in Birmingham, Ala., these are just a few of the places we have traveled to. We have authors (local) visit our meetings to discuss their books. We have had Brian Egleston (Granddaddy's Dirt), and Magadelen Breaux (Imaginary Playmate), just to name a few.
