They meet every quarter to discuss books of fiction only, authored by African American writers. They issue a newsletter focusing on events, previous meetings,. You Go Girl was the recipient of The William H. Frayser Award of Excellence for their part in community affairs, and volunteering time at the local library through the Vista Literacy Program. They meet and have their meetings at an African American Book Store. They also attend outings throughout the year, and celebrate their anniversaries of the book club each year in September.They host Authors and book signings, and contribute to different charities each year in December which is a way to give back to the local communities.
