Notes:

The White Oak African American Book Group is sponsored by the Montgomery County Public Libraries and, as such, is open to all who are interested in the same focus we are: discussing Black Books from an African American perspective. We discuss fiction and nonfiction titles, not only about African Americans, but across the “diaspora”, including Africa, the Caribbean, and the United Kingdom. Our list of titles for discussion is published and distributed widely. The books on our list are available from the Montgomery County Public Libraries. Our most successful method of publicity has been word-of-mouth, and we use the “each one reach one” theory to grow membership and to generally inform the public about books that interest us. Black Books represent our cultural treasure! All meetings are held on the second Tuesday of most months at the White Oak Public Library, located at 11701 New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring, MD 20904, at 7:00pm.
