The mission of Rare Essence Book Club is to bring together men and women to enhance the readership of African-American literature, foster a lively and intelligent discussion in a welcoming, pleasurable and sociable environment. Our objectives are to: 1) gain some literary value, new ideals and interpretations from books we discuss; 2) expand intellectual horizons through exploring a genre of books; and 3) examine human motivation by reading about how others respond to external and internal circumstances. We strive to meet at least 4-6 times per year. Dates are flexible; however, discussions are held on weekends during afternoon hours.
