Children’s Books: Discovering Wes Moore a YA adaptation of the story of two fatherless boys from Baltimore, both named Wes Moore. One is in prison, serving a life sentence for murder. The other is a Rhodes Scholar.

Poetry: One book made our list this period, Furious Flower: African-American Poetry from the Black Arts Movement to the Present edited by Joanne V. Gabbin.
