Celebrating books written by or about Black people, the African American Literature Book Club’s Bestsellers List has been published continuously since 1998. In 2026, we began publishing our list quarterly, focusing on The BLK Bestsellers.
The Lagos Wife by Vanessa Walters is not only #1 on our fiction list, but it is also the #1 book overall. The Message by Ta-Nehisi Coates was the bestselling book on our nonfiction list even before its publication date — based upon presales alone. Stacey Speaks Up by Stacey Abrams and Illustrated by Kitt Thomas tops our children’s list this period.
