Theron Brooks’ entire life was changed by one single act. His fifth grade teacher informed the entire class that she was going to place everyone back a few grade levels.Later, Theron’s family leaves his Chicago neighborhood for a better life in the suburbs. There, Theron is confronted with hatred, humiliation, peer pressure, the reality of a poor education and ultimately defeat. However, Theron has great courage and instead of bowing his head with shame, sorrow and regret he shows everyone how to over come, succeed and stand tall.
