Black Don’t Crack… Book Spines Book Club Submission Guidelines

Thanks for your interest in having your book discussed by the Black Don’t Crack… Book Spines book club.

Our reading list focuses on books written by Black and African American authors. We primarily select titles from traditional and large independent presses, and we typically review 1–2 independently published books per year.

We strongly prefer that submitted titles have an audiobook version available, as this supports the varied reading preferences and accessibility needs of our book club members.

If you’d like your book considered for a book club title recommendation, please mail a print copy of your ARC or finished book to:

When submitting your book, please include the following information:

• Author name
• Email address
• Phone number
• Book title
• Genre and Audience Age Demographic
• Publication date
• Publisher or imprint
• ISBN
• Format availability (paperback, hardcover, ebook)
• Audiobook availability (Audible and/or Libby preferred)
• Brief book description or synopsis
• Author website and/or social media links (optional)

Please allow 6–8 weeks for review. You will be notified if your book is selected or recommended.

If your book is selected, you will be invited to attend a virtual book club meeting to engage with members and answer their questions. We prefer to feature authors who agree to make themselves available to attend the book club discussion should their book be selected. Meetings are held on the last Sunday of the month at 2 PM EST.

You will also get a free Author Profile if you do not already have one.
