The National Book Foundation presented a series of events over the course of several days. AALBC.com attended three; the 5 Under 35 book party; the Finalists Readings (Four categories: Fiction, Nonfiction, Young Poeple’s Literature and Poetry) and the 64th Annual National Book Award (pictured AALBC Founder, Troy Johnson and Toni Morrison).

Toni Morrison presents Dr. Maya Angelou with the 2013 Literarian Award for Outstanding Service to the American Literary Community
Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters
Victor Navasky Presents E.L. Doctorow with the Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters
James McBride’s Acceptance Speech for the Fiction Award.
