About This Event

Opening Reception: March 28, 2016 @ The Charles Evans Innis Memorial Library 1650 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11225

Provocateurs: The Symbiotic Relationship Between Photographers & Writers Photography Group Show Featuring:

  • Laylah Amatullah Barrayn,
  • Rachel Eliza Griffiths &
  • Marcia E. Wilson

The purpose of the exhibit “Provocateurs” is to present the linkage writers of African descent and their photographer counterparts share in rendering the Black experience and historical narratives. Images are fine examples of how they can inspire words for a poem, be an spark for a novel, or serve as the visual interpetation for an essay. In a similar manner, words can influence the mood for a painting or a photograph. The use of the word “Provocateurs” serves the belief that both writers and photographers use their art form to evoke a visceral action or reaction in the minds of both readers and viewers.
