EASE

 

Calm clear current of Caribbean Sea

Carries me away from island’s sacred shores....
Propelled by inertia, moons pull upon tidal currents
Carrying me away with ease….
Comfortable in caress of native home’s warm waters
Kissed by the sun: mahogany skin glistens
In youth, the strength of my limbs gives me confidence
In old age, may my wisdom grant me prudence
Sprays of saltwater stings eyes and tickles skin
Bountiful ocean: so filled with life, seems fathomless
Humbling is this experience, adrift upon an endless expanse of ocean
To fight force of such immense power would be futile
Move as gently as a long-lost lover’s embrace upon its rolling waters

Horizon seems an infinite distance

My anatomical form an insignificant speck, against the turquoise green waters…
