Washington’s Potty-Training Day, a children’s book that explores the reality of transitioning a baby from diapers and pull-ups to using the potty. With 32 illustrated pages, it's a super quick and fun read for 0-4 year olds, rhyming and singing its way straight to the kiddie potty! 

 

Often, people can place unrealistic expectations on children to reach milestones at a particular age. Societal pressure has the potential to make parents feel unqualified to commit to the task with patience and celebration. While most tips and strategies are for parents to use, it’s important to stay encouraged and not force the issue; waiting until the child is ready for the next stage. In the end, a potty-trained baby means an independent toddler!

Together ZiZi and Mommy explore the joys, challenges and frustrations when transitioning from being a baby into becoming a Big Girl. Potty Training is not a one-size-fits-all process, and everyone experiences it differently. Potty-Training Day celebrates that space in between where your little one is curious and ready and as a parent you are eager and scared for what a potty-trained baby really means.

Oakland native, Akilah Trinay, is the proud mother of 2-year-old Ziana Washington. She was inspired to write a children’s book after exploring the joys and challenges of single motherhood. Akilah Trinay is the author of the fictional urban suspense novel Beyond the Hurt. She also owns Revision Publishing LLC. She resides in the Bay Area with her daughter and supportive family.
