Esther Cooper Jackson (August 21, 1917 – August 23, 2022) was the founding managing editor of Freedomways: A Quarterly Review of the Freedom Movement (https://aalbc.com/authors/author.php?author_name=Esther+Cooper+Jackson) which was published from 1961 until 1985.

Freedomways was an influential quarterly magazine that featured the writings of Kwame Nkrumah, John Henrik Clarke, W.E.B. Du Bois, Martin Luther King, Jr., Paul Robeson, Alice Walker, Lorraine Hansberry, James Baldwin, and many more. The magazine also featured the art of Jacob Laurence, Romare Beardon, Elizabeth Catlett, and others.
