Sandra W. Headen
Dr. Sandra W. Headen is a Social and Community Psychologist who had a rewarding career in the field of public health as a researcher and college professor. She now writes historical fiction for middle grade readers and has a two-book deal with Holiday House publishers. Warrior on the Mound will be published in Spring 2024. Publication of the second book will be announced. Dr. Headen is represented by Victoria Selvaggio at Storm Literary Agency.
“I have been writing my whole life and penned my first novel at the age of 11. My dream was to be a newspaper reporter who wrote novels in the wee hours of the night. When that career did not materialize, I got a Ph.D. in Psychology. As a university professor, I taught graduate students and conducted research on behavioral and community-based interventions to prevent cancer. Now I have come full circle. I am a children’s book writer who can grab a cup of coffee in my favorite mug and sit down to write in the early hours of the morning instead of the dead of night.
