Blah,blah,blah. Self love can be just as stifling as self hate as Pioneer, in all of his ego-centricity proves. He really wants to make the world over in his image, convinced that his personal taste should be the standards to which all blacks conform . ( Imo, wig- wearing Serena looks just acceptable as Venus and her braided extensions.) Self hate as it applies to black hair is really a non issue; so 1960 ish, so back when Black Panthers were raisin their fists - to beat up any afro-coiffed sistas who didn't stay in their places. Right on... It's not what's on top of your head, however, it's what's inside your skull. How black women made their hair more manageable is a part of their culture. Madam CJ Walker amassed a fortune providing them with pomades and hot combs to get the kinks out. Good for her and good for them! It's about taking care of business. Self esteem can be purchased and if sistas wanna do things to make themselves more glamourous and trendy then, so be it. Vanity thy name is woman. None of this superficiality greatly impacts on nation-building. All this tired old rhetoric about "sending messages" is just lip service. GenAlphas are their own role models. Nothing like getting your priorities straight when striving to become successful Capitalists.
