I am not an overall fan. Where many black people like his work or respect the body of work, I do not. I am happy he has financial support making films, I hope he makes more films. But I am not a fan of his collection overall. That is more than I can say to Tyler perry whom I don't care for at all. 
These are the four spike lee films I will show others and say I like at least with no question. 
 
I love four little girls for me Spike's best work I like Malcolm X though the cast does brillianlty, and I think his cameo hurts the film I like get on the bus, ozzie davis i am a fan of I like inside man but he didn't write it
