Lowell Hawthorne, President of Golden Crust, whose remarkable life was chronicled in his memoir, The Baker’s Son: My Life in Business, tragically took is own life Saturday.

 

I met this Brother earlier in the year at a party for his publisher Akashic books.  My initial take was a low key brother with a pleasant demeanor. I would never have known he was worth tens of millions of dollars.

 

His business story was quite remarkable.
