Nevermind the fact that SCOTUS Justice has a job for life that pays over $255k annually.

 

Apparently, Justices are also allowed to sign book deals while sitting on the bench:

Justice Amy Comey Barrett appointed in 2020 has already received a $425k advance on a book deal worth $2 million. 

 

This is just an example of how public officials rake in a lot of dough beyond their salaries. It might also influence, er, explain their politics.
