September 22, 20223 yr comment_55977 “We Real Cool” by Gwendolyn Brooks The Pool Players Seven at the Golden Shovel We real cool. We Left school. We Lurk late. We Strike straight. We Sing sin. We Thin gin. We Jazz June. We Die soon. I have not hopped on the "celebration" of banned books parade so many booksellers have. I feel like that is something I do every day. This is also why I don't feel the need to do something special for Black History Month. That would be redundant... Anywho, I understand this poem was banned for the sexual connotations associated with the line We Jazz June. Report
