Biography

R. E. Hayes is an accomplished author, lawyer, and former U.S. Marine, holding both a BA and JD from Indiana University. His debut novel, Be White With Me, was long-listed for the Santa Fe Writing Project award judged by Deesha Philyaw, a 2020 National Book Award finalist. Hayes continues to impact the literary world with his latest novel, Duped In America, demonstrating his commitment to thought-provoking and compelling storytelling.

Kirkus Reviews found it to be “a powerful, humane novel that turns the headlines of recent years into a moving story of loss, courage, and hope.” Hayes resides west of Chicago with his wife and their calico girl cat, Sunny.
