La Caille Nous (La Caille Nous means "our house" in Haitian creole) is an independent publisher of fiction, poetry and nonfiction by new writers of African descent.

MISSION
To shape the next generation's intellectual musing and redefine the American cultural landscape. To publish literary works by new writers, on topics that are relevant to African people.

HISTORY
Established October 1995. Incorporated December 1995 Currently has four titles in print, with plans of releasing a fifth during Winter 1997.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Fiction - The first three chapters, but no more than 40 pages.
Poetry - Twenty pages, but no more than 5 pages per poems.
Nonfiction - Send query letter or synopsis.

PUBLISHING PROGRAM
Mainstream and genre fiction will be the core of the program Poetry, and Culture & Politics will be used for culture reaffirmation and definition Haitian literature, original works and translations, will be the last tier of the program

COOPERATIVE PUBLISHING
La Caille Nous will collaborate with individuals or institutions to publish works that may fall out of our specialty, but which we feel should be published.
