Troy was on The State of Publishing: A 2014 Odyssey panel where he explained that the rapid loss of platforms showcasing Black books is hurting Black publishing. In the video clip below, he showed how many Black owned bookstore we’ve lost in recent years—Only 54 remain open in the United States.
AALBC.com also sponsored a reading featuring; Mukoma wa Ngugi author of Black Star Nairobi (Melville International Crime, May 29, 2013) and Kwei Quartey Murder at Cape Three Points (Soho Crime, March 18, 2014).

The weekend of July 19 marks the 15th anniversary of the Harlem Book Fair and we are asking you to join us for a most signature event. Along with our outdoor celebration of books, authors, and exhibitors, our author main stage, indoor author panel discussions, readings and workshops will offer surprising and engaging entertainment for every type of booklover.

Held during BEA, the Black Pack Party is an annual celebration of book industry professionals, authors, and friends which is hosted AALBC.com, Linda A. Duggins, MosaicBooks.com, Written Magazine.
The 8th Annual African American Literary Award Show will be hosted by celebrated award-winning actor Isaiah Washington. The event will take place on Thursday, September 27, 2012 6 pm to 11 pm at Melba's Restaurant located at 163 West 125th Street & Adam Clayton Powell Blvd. 3rd floor.

How does this impact the marketing of books targeted to the African American reader, which already suffers from paltry recognition in the mass media?
