So, MHRise is the best selling third party game on Switch with 7M of units

Considering that it was released on one console (PC version is still not available)

I was thinking how important this is. While MH has been with Nintendo consoles since many years ago (mostly because the portable consoles) this is the first Non-Nintendo Third Party Exclusive that is not a port from current or last gen. Also it doesnt features any of the Nintendo popular mascots.

The game is great and fun, I think that even the great RE4 didnt get that amount of sales on the Gamecube.

Will MHRise success encourage other third party companies to make efforts on the Switch even with the PS5/XboxX in the market?

I am pretty sure we are going to see more MH games on nintendo consoles, maybe the spiritual successor of WORLD will be also on Switch. And I believe that a RE game is inevitable too.

Certain genres or series have always performed better on Nintendo consoles. Even the Wii U had games like Rayman and that Sonic racing game outselling the other versions, that's not even mentioning the indie games that always perform better on Nintendo. MH was big on Nintendo not only due to the time it was exclusive but also because the series was at its peak on handhelds in Japan, and Switch is the only handheld console on the market so it was bound to happen some time.

Sadly in my personal opinion a lot of third parties are stuck in the biased PS1/PS2 days, which means that they would opt to ignore the Nintendo and the Switch instead. There are still a handful of developers that barely lived through the start of HD era and yet still release PS4 exclusives even though they aren't the market leader in Asia.

Sometimes executives can be fanboys, and that's what leads to certain games not coming to Switch even though it makes sense financially (ex. Sega). Another example was the NRS guys that initially said MK11 shouldn't come to Switch because it's a kiddy casual audience or whatever. The creator of MK literally proved them wrong and the guys didn't even know about the early MK games being on the SNES.
