As I mentioned in another thread, however people choose to use their time is great as long as it does not bring hurt, harm or danger to other folks. @aka Contrarian...you already know your contribution to the forum is appreciated by yours truly. Whenever that time comes where we can no longer share and enjoy this virtual space...the memories will linger. In the meantime, I look forward to you popping in, hanging out and posting here too.

The mid-terms elections in November 2026 will be a determining factor. Either the MAGA base is still onboard or ready to move in a different direction from the circus of POTUS OJ and his administration. That's almost one year from now and people have short attention spans. I believe POTUS OJ and his administration will continue doing dumb sh8t. Ultimately, putting nails in their own coffins.

Cynique At 90 something years old, people in their 60s or even early 70s would probably be considered "young" to you because it's whole a generation behind....lol The word "jive" went out of circulation in the early 80s.....along with bell bottoms.....lol. Certainly few people under 60 use that word on a regular basis. Now this is interesting....... It's what is called the "Mandela Effect". People of different backgrounds having different memories about the existence or nature of something. Me and a few other people over a certain age clearly remember Jive magazine. We saw it in supermarkets, barbershops, and liquor stores back in the 70s and 80s. But over half of the people of that same age range say they DON'T remember the magazine! Interesting!

@TroyI didn't realize the slang word "jive" was so archaic. I'm around people who use it all the time, both young and old. It's interchangeable with BS. Maybe it's a Chicago thing. Conversely, I've never seen or heard of the JIVE magazine whose cover you posted. I do remember a black show biz magazine called VIBE. I also find it interesting that you hate FACEBOOK but, like everybody else here, seem quite enamored with YouTube which, to me, is no more legitimate than social media.

Regardless of who is having children, the population is still growing. If a handful of men of [insert race here] are not approaching women and/or procreating for whatever reason...that doesn't account for the majority of men who are still doing their thing. Wealth building is very real. The unfortunate truth is that Black folks have been deceived and distracted away from it. Black folks have invested way too much intellectual capital in stuff like religion and expended a huge amount of physical capital in making other folks wealthy. Way too many Black folks concentrate on working a job for someone else instead of employing themselves. The real secret to white folks success is stealing from and/or making other folks work for them.

Here I am, setting the record straight again, doing so, not because I think anybody cares, but rather because some may be curious as to why a 92-year- old-senior citizen wastes what little time she has left, hangin' out on an online discussion forum, engaging in verbal fisticuffs with a pioneer who has never blazed a trail anywhere except up his own butt. My answer: since the cyber space universe enables one to adopt an alter-ego, and take on a user name and lead a secret existence, quite a while ago I decided why not do this? What the heck. Might be fun. And it has been. In the real world, I am a widowed mother of 5, grandmother of 7, great grandmotherk of 8, family members of whom know very little about Nana's on-line activity; too wrapped up in their own pursuits. They just know she surfs the internet, amusing herself by engaging in various activities, and they remain clueless about the extent of my involvement on this forum since they don't come to this site. Nor do any of my associates. And, rest assured that my "Contrarian" persona is different from how I am in real life among polite company. However, because I can come here and hide behind an avatar, all bets are off and I can express myself anyway I please, Since I'm no longer a single young woman "out-to-catch", I feel no need to tread lightly and act sweet and feminine. ProfD East coast dialects are generally not attractive to me....lol. Not sexually. If I hear a man with a strong Eastcoast dialect like a New York one....I think of Mike Tyson or some of the rappers I grew up listening too. But a WOMAN with a New York dialect is often times a turn off. Take MC Lyte for example. Fine woman with a nice pair of girls hanging on her....lol. But as soon as she opens her mouth and that strong ass dialect comes out....it's over, lol. "You ain't guuuuwaadin' the dooooah.... Do you rob from the rich and give to the pooooah.... Yo' Daddio, school 'em some mooooah....." The only famous female who's strong New York dialect doesn't seem to affect her sexiness is MARY J. BLIGE....lol. Her voice is so sweet, feminine, and inviting...I can listen to her all day.

That was not the question though. As an employee, would you be feel the same way. Plenty FBA/AfroAmericans have made great money as actors and lived clean, healthy lives too. It is wrong to cheat the younger generation out of similar opportunities using technology. As a movie producer, that is choice Michael B. Jordan could make. However, if he had employed someone who looked like him, another Black man would have been able to get paid too.

Gotcha. I agree that a foreign accent can be an aspect of attraction. To my ears, *foreign* doesn't have to be from another country though. Women with domestic accents whether it is a southern drawl, midwest twang or east coast aggressiveness, etc. can be just as attractive.

It's always easy to look from an outside perspective. Turn that around. The question becomes, if your employer decides to replace you with another person or AI or robot, would you be just as fine with it.

ProfD Millions more people still means men and women are carrying out their biological duties. Again, the question has to be WHO is having all of these children....or what portion of society shares the biggest responsibility for the population increase? Not sure about the DMV area but in Michigan and the other places I've lived like the South and West Coast, the immigrant population both legal and illegal has grown TREMENDOUSLY. And they tend to have FAR more children than the native population of this country regardless of race. Not sure if you believe the population growth rates between the immigrants and native citizens are on par, but that's certainly not what I've seen in my travels...lol. I don't think the native/foundational Americans of any race under 30 are having children like they were just a generation ago let alone several generations ago. Black folks spend and donate enough money on dumb sh8t that they can become venture capitalists I know you were just making a casual point but that term "venture capitalist" brings up many images and scenarios. I've heard so many struggling Black people claim they either are or want to be "venture capitalists" and although the term sounds cool, as I've gotten wiser and more observant I realize that it's probably just another one of those deceptive terms put out by the Racists to confuse people. What do I mean? I joke with Troy from time to time about White folks having some sort of "secret access" to money and wealth that other races don't and you only get access to it if you're labeled as "White" in this society. Kind of like what Neely Fuller Jr. teaches in a way...lol. Perhaps you might make a mistake on some census form or registration form and get a accidentally package in the mail that was INTENDED for an actual White person! And it has hundreds of thousands of dollars of disposable income, a list of all the hidden stores where the REAL food is kept, and debit cards for money and credit to buy the things you want and need...lol. That's how they REALLY got their wealth and ownership, not through investing or playing the lottery...lol. Anyway...... At the risk of sounding like @richardmurray....lol....I say all of that to say: We really don't know HOW White folks are really getting their wealth. They throw out terms like Venture Capitalist and Investor and you see the eyes of some Black men shining and they're rubbing their hands together eager to participate thinking THAT'S how they'll get wealth too not knowing about the "secret package" which is the real wealth builder. -Investing. -Buying land or property and flipping it. -Taking chances. -Stocks These might be just GAMES being played by those with so much money they can afford to play them, while their REAL millions and billions may actually be GIVEN to them. I used to think it was a race/class issue that so many obviously sick and violent individuals who obviously should be locked up were not being institutionalized for the safety of family and society in general. Although I still think race and class plays a huge role in this....the Nick Reiner case is one of many examples of how this dysfunctional mental health system seems to be affect all parts of strata of society even if you're White and rich. So many people are fucked up that they no longer want to house and feed them, so they're letting them roam around in the streets UNTIL they either die or do something violent enough to warrant their incarceration. Prevention isn't even on the table anymore.

ProfD When I said it was a "strategic" response, I didn't mean it in a negative way. When you said that, it opened up all kinds of questions as to what you meant and why you felt that way...lol. It made me wonder whether or not you agreed with the statement. If you didn't...why not? If you did....did you agree with it for the same reasons I did? Etc.... It was literally a THOUGHT PROVOKING response that opened up so many avenues. Troy I was about to surmise the same thing —a biological adaptation. Why would we find foreign accents sexy when it would seem more reasonable to find them odd or even repulsive? Also, I think most men are programmed to seek and help out women they find attractive. If you notice a woman has an accent you subconsciously presume she's not from THIS territory/land/country and if she's attractive you'll use that to your advantage to try to help her navigate through this society/territory/country and gain her trust, confidence, and attraction. It doesn't matter the fact that she may have been here 40 years or probably was even BORN here and probably picked up her accent from her immigrant parents...lol. We're just programmed to presume such. I always found foreign accents, including the southern ones attractive all things being equal if a sister had a southern accent I found them more appealing Same here. I think it's because we subconsciously associate the South with being a bit slower than the North or Westcoast which means we may expect her to be less hip and more submissive. We know that's not necessarily true, especially today; but when I was a kid was more true because the South WAS much slower than places like Chicago, Detroit, and definitely slower than New York...lol. But I've noticed that this seems to be the OPPOSITE effect when it comes to men with Southern dialects...lol. When I lived in the South, most women said they found men with Northern and New York dialects more attractive. Not only were they different but they conveyed a sense of "big city" coolness and hipness.
