  2. Hello, my name is Dr. Eric Dewight Williams, and I am the Author of the book: PREDICTIVE MODELING REDUCING EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT WAIT TIMES: A DESCRIPTIVE ANALYSIS OF PATIENT OVERCROWDING IN PUBLIC HOSPITALS OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN Product details ASIN‏: ‎ B0BFV29ZGT Publisher: ‎ Palmetto Publishing (October 18, 2022) Language: English Hardcover: 122 pages ISBN-13: ‎979-8822906167 Item Weight: ‎1.19 pounds Dimensions: ‎8.5 x 0.31 x 11 inches Emergency Medical Services (Books) Emergency Medicine (Books) The potential dangers of ED overcrowding have recently garnered national attention in the United States. Numerous reports in the press have reported an unsafe environment in EDs because of overcrowding. With COVID, and a wave of Respiratory Syncytial Virus Infection (RSV) cases in hospitals, I ask that my book be reviewed that was released on October 18, 2022. I am a black author, and this is a great reference/study guide to proactive planning to improve hospital throughput. Efficiently managing patient flow is one of the greatest challenges that hospitals face. The consequences of poor capacity planning and throughput management can be severe: unnecessary expense, over-stressed staff, and less effective patient care. The solution for this serious threat to ED staff and harm to patients cannot come from a single department but through the engagement of and ongoing commitment by leaders throughout the hospital and, more largely, by those in the payer and regulatory segments of the health care system as well. This study by Dr. Eric Williams analyzes the current state of ER overcrowding in Detroit, Michigan, and draws correlations between the overcrowding, patient wait times, access to primary health care services within Detroit's public hospitals, and how overcrowding affects the health outcomes of patients who must wait over six hours to receive care.
