Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was appointed by and reports to POTUS Biden. He secretly went into the hospital to have a medical procedure. Didn't tell his boss about it but POTUS was cool. Wished him well.

 

However, the GOP  in Congress are demanding that Secretary Austin testify before them to explain his disappearing act. Ridiculous. 

 

As NF Jr. might say in mocking white folks...boy, come in here and set down because you've got some 'splainin' to do about your whereabouts and why you didn't tell us your business...boy.

 

Hopefully this will give brotha @Pioneer1 an idea of how these white folks see Black folks in powerful positions.

If he tells them to kiss his ass and doesn't go, that's a show of power.
However if he SUBMITS himself to their inquiry...he failed.

Like you said, Biden appointed him and he reports to BIDEN...not the GOP or Congress.
He's not an elected official and has no obligation to explain himself to them outside of an official subpoena for a criminal investigation.

I believe Defense Secretary Austin is a company man. He'll do whatever the boss tells him to do.

 

If POTUS says boy, er, Secretary go on up there and 'splain yourself to congress, you'll see and/or hear mealy-mouth Austin stammering through his testimony.

That would be a SMART decision.

If Biden is who he reports to and Biden TELLS him to do it...then he SHOULD do it.

Don't be like some of these silly niccaz and start cussing out the same White man who hired and paid him...telling HIM to kiss his ass and start ranting and raving about how he's a grown ass man and don't have to take no shit from nobody. 
Then the next time you see him he's on the avenue intersection or at the freeway ramp down the street from where he USED TO work....holding up a damn cardboard sign begging for money, food, or cigarettes.
....but he's a "grow ass man" though, lol.

Austin didn't get to where he is in his career being a fool...lol

Trustees are inmates...yes....but they DO operate under better conditions, with less restrictions, and more perks than the others.

In the system of Racism, IF you're going to dwell in the system and see no way of getting out.....would it not be wise to seek the most beneficial and comfortable position you can?
