richardmurray Posted September 5, 2024 Report Posted September 5, 2024 Two things, 1) What are the lost causes for Black DOSers? I think their are few, but I find black people in the usa try to ignore or delete the existence of black lost causes in the usa, what say you? And, 2) with black people having the ability to talk , why is it black people needed a school book when all black dosers had people in their bloodline who could speak of the south and slavery more real than any book? Don't tell me black parents were too busy to explain slavery to black children. Don't tell me black parents weren't able to speak to slavery to black children. Shame on black parents from 1865 for starting negative trends. MY COMMENT Well I have to say one thing, before the war between the states whites in kansas had a war with each other over the issue, so in defense f the larger civil war, it wasn't to "preserve" it was to preserve. The white populace had already become internally bloody over the issue of slavery being allowed or disallowed. And you speak of popular fiction but I argue the heritage of the confederacy was always bound to thrive. Slavery was terrible for my forebears , for black folks. But slavery wasn't terrible for whites. And the white southern populace never had the financial power or government influence it had before the war between the states, after said war. So the glorification of the time in the white southern populace is inevitable. The writers pro or anti slavery simply knew the market research and both were right. at the end of the day, writers who wrote anti slavery or pro slavery made great profits. But the reason why any country losses a war is the battlefield , not ideologies. The confederacy made errors on the battlefield, it is that simple. No country losses wars because of idealogies or legal policies. twilight is the reason you made this channel, that is great trivia. 10:59 yes, as the vice president of the confederacy said, this was inevitable from the beginning of the usa, since they kicked the problem down the road instead of dealing it. 14:29 and what about john carter of mars film and jonah hex? 23:22 you definitely make the case that the depictions of confederate vampires makes their role as white southerners who support slavery an easy or crude afterthought. from a writing perspective, it is clear, the writers didn't want to engage in the concept of the characters acting as immortal white bloodsucking beings surrounded by humans they can feed from indiscriminately Ala abraham lincoln vampire slayer:) which even though the slavers are vampires they seem to be caricature in their relationship to the issue. My only two question are where are the northern vampires and what about southern vampires who actually were enslaved as humans beforehand? in all of these stories it seems union vampires are far less developed or non existent and southern vampires seem to be conveniently made during the war between the states. 24:11 you met anne rice, cool:) and good point in how rice had more engaged characters to slavery in the usa. 28:22 well done, i remember Firefly.. gone with the wind for dads i love that, did you make that up. Well done well done 31:23 Good point, hahaha! yes, John carter, yes, jonah hex, well you answered my own questions beforehand. 33:53 yes, gone with the wind was the dream book to many southern women who hated the future . reemmber, wizard of oz made little to no money that same year. 37:45 he has a little rebel in him... anyway 38:00 A) I concur, anne rice and the interview with a vampire film , didn't have the same financial success as gone with the wind but became the way for producers of video content in modernity or post 2000 to show positive/sympathetic white southern characters in fantasy worlds with more superheroes or other. great literary point, the war between the states, no war is civil, is the last time in recent history on usa soil you had so many whites dying , before or after many blacks died but... C) yeah the legacy of the daughters of the american revolution in media is the teary eyed position of former confederates or confederate history in hindsight in media. 39:20 the end of the war between the states did end the south as a place where white power could be unchallenged against black people completely. It isn't merely an idea, it is the truth. Said whites who glorify the confederacy and the south before it are basically saying they don't mind a place where even the poorest uneducated imbalanced white has it better than any non white or black because of the existence of enslaved blacks who by their shackled situation are far worse than any person who is poor while free the gilda stories https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gilda_Stories the vampre huntress legend stories https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Vampire_Huntress_Legend_Series.
