March 31Mar 31 comment_81022 Despite a partial government shutdown where TSA agents aren't getting paid, that didn't stop Congress from going on Easter vacation. Congress is responsible for passing the bills that would reopen the closed parts of government. The people responsible for their safely at the airport would get paid. The most arrogant & tone deaf aspect of this whole situation is Congress-folks who take advantage of being escorted through airports to avoid long lines caused by their own inaction. People have been encouraged to take pictures of these elected clowns who refuse to carry out their responsibilities. Congress still gets paid during a government shutdown. Most of them are already rich too. Like everything else, there's no public uproar as these elected officials go on vacation while leaving harder working people stranded.😎 Report
March 31Mar 31 comment_81034 They're CALLING this a "shutdown" or "partial shutdown" but I'll say like I said before some months agon when they were going through this same shit and cutting off people's food stamps.... The government itself hasn't shut shit down. They're just picking and choosing where to spend their money and arbitrarily cutting off certain government services at will. Like a factory laying people or even laying off an entire department. The factory isn't shutting down.....it's just laying people off and saving money and re-organizing. Not sure why they decided to focus on the TSA this time as opposed to SNAP like they did before. As far as I'm concerned, they are just playing games and doing experiments at the people's expense. Politicians are holding up bills to spend money over disagreements in ICE operations TSA, CBP, Coast Guard & cyber-intelligence among other DHS agencies caught in crossfire. POTUS OJ is threatening an end around to get folks paid until Congress does its job.😎 Report
April 5Apr 5 comment_81125 Remember back in the 80s and 90s when the big lie was that America was "broke". Most people bought that garbage. Anytime politicians didn't want to fund a program for their own personal reasons, they'd claim America was broke...in debt...and couldn't afford it. Thanks to George W. Bush and the TRILLIONS the nation ended up spending on Iraq and Afghanistan, they could no longer use THAT lie as an excuse. The American people saw that the nation has trillions of dollars at it's disposal and could easily print up more when needed. So now they had to come up with a NEW excuse for not spending money on projects they didn't want to. Now they use "government shut downs" as an excuse and while they admit the government DOES have the money, they say it just hasn't been properly "appropriated" yet. They bound it up in a ton of red tape and make it extra complicated to get to. Report

In fact, Americans could get a livable stipend every month & never have to *work* a job. The US economic system is built on a house of cards. Technically, the USA doesn't have the money they are printing. The $37 trillion dollar deficit is the equivalent of extending the limit on a credit card or extending a loan that never gets paid in full. Power & greed & having the most powerful military on the planet makes it easier to spend money that doesn't really exist if someone ever called in the markers. It's an economic game where rich & powerful people pick & choose who wins & loses.😎 Report
April 5Apr 5 comment_81145 As long as the United States has the most powerful military on the planet, we can print a near endless amount of money and spend the nation into a near endless amount of debt. Taking the nation off the gold standards was one of the smartest financial moves this country could have made anyway because they're not enough gold in the world to back the true wealth of the United States. At it's current value, all of the known gold of every nation and it's people combined.....probably wouldn't equal the value of America's wealth. Report

As long as the U.S. has the most powerful military of any nation on this planet, the debt is really a non-issue. It's only a "boogie man" set up to dissuade the people from demanding that the nation spend more money for social services and infrastructure. When it comes to funding wars and military operations, the debt is barely even mentioned. You ask for money to bolster medicaid, medicare, or keep social security from becoming insolvent.....NOW they bring up the debt. Report

Smoke & mirrors to keep the people in check. 2 hours ago, Pioneer1 said: You ask for money to bolster medicaid, medicare, or keep social security from becoming insolvent.....NOW they bring up the debt. Right again. Social services don't generate enough money for the wealthy & powerful shareholders.😎 Report
