The shift boosted many ACA policyholders’ premium bills, in some cases by 100% or more.Millions of Americans drop Obamacare plans after withdrawal of subsidiesI've said time and time again that Obama and the Democratic controlled Congress for much of his Presidency had the opportunity to institute a REAL national healthcare plan like Universal Healthcare or atleast ( @aka Contrarian ) a single payer system. Instead......he pushed a Republican designed private insurance dominated system that basically FORCES you to buy the same health insurance you didn't get because you couldn't afford it in the first place. Thursday at 03:49 AM5 days comment_82264 Former POTUS Obama pushed the Affordable Gare Act because that's what the pharmaceutical industry allowed him to do.😁There will be no universal healthcare as long as the USA is a capitalistic country. That's why free clinics disappeared decades ago.Americans are forced to pay for the most basic healthcare services by any means necessary. It is sad & unfortunate that in the richest country on the planet people are allowed to die if they cannot afford to live.😎 Report

I remember getting my vaccination shots at the clinic. My mom had a card/booklet the nurse would sign & date for the shots. Of course, the school needed to see it.🙄🤣2 hours ago, Pioneer1 said:If I remember correctly, you could get birth control pills from them but you couldn't get condoms from them until the late 80s....lol.I believe the free clinic started giving away condoms when all h8ll broke loose with the AIDS epidemic. Preventing pregnancy was a by-product.🤣Urgent Care provides similar services but they won't see a person unless they got a credit card or cash to pay up.😎 Report
Friday at 12:22 AM4 days Author comment_82271 ProfDAnother thing about those neighborhood clinics was that it provided a lot of jobs for BLACK doctors and nurses.BLACK AMERICAN!It seems like we had a far higher percentage of them back then.I remember my Mother taking me to see a doctor in one of those neighborhood clinics as a small child.I remember it well because both of them were standing over me while I was laying on the little bed naked as the doctor was checking me out....lol.It was a Black doctor looking down occasionally smiling at me as he'd look up to talk to my Mother. You'd go to those clinics and instead of seeing Asians or Latinos, you'd see Black female receptionists with Afros dressed in white and answering phones.Man, they either tore down or converted that clinic and turned it into a Little Caesars...lol.Little Caesars started in Detroit and Mike Ilitch had a lot of sway over the city when it came to buying property.Black people lost a LOT in the 80s.
