Jaden and Jaylen.........

Featured Replies

Why are so many Black families naming their children Jaden and Jaylen?

I've noticed this over the past 5 years but obviously it's been going on longer because many of them are in their teens now.

No idea of why Jaden & Jaylen has become a popular name but many of them are in their 20s & 30s too.😎

Well, the basketball player Jalen Rose is in his 50s.
I'm guessing he is partially responsible for so many women naming their children Jalen and Jaylen...lol.

Perhaps Will Smith's son Jaden also bears some responsibility.

But when it get to the point where nearly a quarter of all the Black children both male AND female are carrying those names, it becomes ridiculous.

You can't walk down the street without hearing some kid yelling down the street: Ja-deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen

You can't go to a grocery store or mall without hearing some mother yelling at her son or daughter: Jaylen stop, and bring yo' ass on!

Well, there could be more kids running around with unisex names like Michael, Sydney, Courtney, Dominique, Frances, Jackie, Kris, Patrice, Quincy & Vivian.😁😎

I'm with you with Courtney, Frances, and Jackie......but Michael, Quincy, and Vivian aren't "unisex" names in my opinion, lol.

I have yet to meet a woman named Quincy and I BETTER NOT run into a man named "Vivian".....lol.

For the woman named "Quincy", perhaps if you had an opportunity to check her Identification -would you discover that "Quincy" was actually a name she went by that was short for something else?

I also wonder how did she spell it.
Did she spell it "Quincy" or "Quincie" like women who call themselves "Bobby" spell it as "Bobbie" to denote the feminine aspect?

As for the brutha named "Vivian"......lol.....are you sure he's ALWAY been a "brutha"????

Quincy was her birth name.

Well shame on their mothers for giving them those names.

Talk about inconsiderate.

Why on Earth would a loving mother give a child a name common to the OPPOSITE sex?
Does she not care how that child will grow up or the ridicule they'll face as a result?

Mothers believe they can protect their offspring from the world.

Sometimes, fathers are responsible for naming their children.

A man wanted a son & ended up with a daughter so her name is Michael after him.🤣😎

But "Vivian"????

Come on bro.....

How can you say you love your son when you named him "Vivian"?

What next?
Dress him up in a pink dress and knee-high stockings and push him off to elementary school with a big ass lollypop in his hand?

Some things just defy common sense.

All of the dudes I grew up with who had unisex names were masculine & could fight. Their names didn't define or victimize them.

Time has shown us that a name doesn't lead a male to wearing dresses nor a female to wearing Timbaland boots.🤣😎
