Most of the people who will be put out of work by AI are professional and IT types.
The vast majority had to go to Universities and rack up a lot of debt to GET their credentials in the first place and most of them have student loans and other debts they have to pay back let alone support the lifestyles they and their families are used to living.

The only jobs that will be left for them will be manufacturing and service industry jobs, which leads to 2 immediate problems for them:

1. Most of these jobs DO NOT pay as well or offer as many benefits as their original corporate and IT jobs.

2. Most of these jobs are far more PHYSICALLY DEMANDING than their original corporate and IT jobs.
People used to sitting on their asses all day playing on the computer will NOT adapt so easily to scrubbing hotel toilets and using jackhammers for 10 hours a day 6 days a week just to pay the bills and pay their debts.

I predict there's going to be a lot of frustrated people and the cases of depression, substance abuse, and other mental health issues will skyrocket in the near future as a result of this massive replacement and displacement.

It depends on what you're calling "well off".

A lot of people in third world countries may be poor and don't have the TANGIBLE luxuries we have in the United States but most of them have benefits that can't be bought with money

-Strong family connections. You almost never hear them complaining about being lonely or unwanted.

-Better natural health without a bunch of pills and medications

-Simpler societies that are easier to navigate through

-Less likely to be incarcerated

-Less likely to be shot or robbed

Even people from the same nation and ethnicity may value different things as life as individuals; so what one person may LOVE about their nation and culture their own brother or cousin may HATE and choose to pack up and leave it behind.

Some people may like the slow and less hectic life of living in a third world country where there is less wealth and luxury but they may find life easier to get through.

Meanwhile some people CAN'T WAIT to get to America so they can get 2 or 3 jobs AND go to school and get a degree and get rich.

They may have plenty of energy and love working 60 or 80 hours a week and can't wait to get to a country that allows them to do this and even rewards them for it.

There used to be a time when a GROWN MAN had to pay for his own place.

Now you got grown men living with their parents until they're 60, living off their wives and girlfriends, and "crashing" on the couch from one friend's crib to the next.....with no shame in it.

But another thing that's a problem is that as more and more immigrants come to America the more they disrupt OUR social fabric of adults living independently.

Most of them believe in the extended family so you'll have several generations or 15 people living on one house and all of them are working low wage jobs but are chipping in so that they can stay in the house and have cars.

That's hard for an individual person to compete with because they were raised to do everything on their own.

I went to Walmart a few weeks ago and ended up paying $400 for a basket full of shit that I didn't think would be over $200.

I had to go over my receipt 2 or 3 times to make sure they weren't double charging me.

Right. Same thing applies to Americans. Even those who are poor may be happy with their famiky, friends & the simple life they live.

Where I grew up, nobody could convince Black people they were poor whether it was welfare or working low wage jobs.

Black families & by extension the communities were filled with love. People looked out for each other.

Childen ran around playing. Adults were drinking, smoking & partying. Folks cooked & ate well. Black communities had a good ole time by any means necessary even though we didn't have a lot.
