Author of "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" Opens a Bookstore

Featured Replies

Jeff Kinney is a #1 New York Times bestselling author and six-time Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award winner for Favorite Book. The 11th book in the series, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Double Down, will release on November 1, 2016. He lives with his wife and two sons in Plainville, Massachusetts, where he owns a general interest bookstore, An Unlikely Story, which he describes in the video below.

In the video, Jeff expresses surprise that more writers don't open bookstores.  I could not help but think about how nice it must be nice to be so wealthy that you can wonder about something like that and not have a clue about the answer...  But he is opening a bookstore and I wish him all the best.

His bookstore will perform well because of the connection to someone "famous". Influencers shape the market and if celebrity is involved and only a drop of business savvy, a person can attain things us mere mortals can't attain. If tomorrow someone posted that Essence magazine bought AALBC, the site would become a cherished item in Black media and mainstream. It's a frustrating thing to deal with.

Celebrity, wealth and being a white man has its privileges.

As far as this site being cherished by the Black media, imagine that. Ultimately as the site continues to grow, and improve, it will be kinda hard to ignore ;)

Right on!!!!!
